Monica Trif received her PhD in the field of Food Biotechnology and MSc Degree in Applied Biotechnology. Dr. Trif has been involved in a Socrates Intensive Programme for ‘Food and Health’, and is currently working as Project Manager\Product Development Manager, more than 15 years relevant expertise in food and nutraceutical research by participation in various international/national projects related to research and innovation, and involved in developing more than 10 utility models (patents-like intellectual property right to protect inventions). As a recognisition of efforts Dr. Trif has been awarded as mentor of Publons Academy – an online Master Peer Review training course, Expert Evaluator at European Commission, contributor of White Book Agenda of European high-tech food processing and FoodTech Innovation Portal, and reviewer in prestigious Q1/Q2 journals. Dr. Trif acquired extensive and valuable knowledge during the staff secondments at Institute of Food Research (IFR) (Food Structure, Colloids and Digestion Department) UK; INRA-BIA Unit (Biopolymères Interactions Assemblages within the Research Division of Science for Food and Bioproduct Engineering) France; INRA-CSGA (Flaveur, Food Oral Processing and Perception) France; TU Berlin (Department of Enzyme Technologies) Germany; KU Leuven (Molecular Plant Biology) Belgium.
Competence: hydrocolloid and emulsion based food structuring with applications on food and beverage, encapsulation, spray-drying, coating, bioactive compounds, fermentation, and bioconversion.
